Who's Chase & Status
The duo's journey began with their shared passion for music, drawing inspiration from iconic acts like the Prodigy, Orbital, and the influential Shaun Pomeroy of Frome. Chase & Status quickly rose to prominence, achieving three number-one singles on the UK Dance Singles Chart between 2007 and 2009, showcasing their prowess in the genre.
Their second studio album, "No More Idols," released in 2011, solidified their position in the industry, featuring hit singles like "End Credits" and "Let You Go." The album debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, attaining gold certification within its first week of sales.
The darker tones of their third album, "Brand New Machine" (2013), marked a shift in their sound. The album featured notable tracks like "Lost & Not Found" and "Count On Me," showcasing their versatility and maturity in musical expression. The duo's live performances, captured in "Chase & Status: Live at Brixton," further emphasized their magnetic stage presence.
Continuing their musical evolution, Chase & Status released "Tribe" in 2017, returning to their drum and bass roots while experimenting with other genres. Collaborations with artists like Craig David, Emeli Sandé, and Shy FX added depth to the album.
Beyond their own discography, Chase & Status are renowned for their remixes, including a notable rework of "Invaders Must Die" for the Prodigy. They have also contributed to Rihanna's albums and produced hits for artists like Rita Ora and Example.
As founders of the independent record label MTA Records, and with Kennard's establishment of ELAM in 2014, Chase & Status continue to leave an indelible mark on the electronic music landscape, demonstrating their commitment to nurturing talent and pushing musical boundaries. Chase & Status, a name echoing through the beats of contemporary electronic music, remains a driving force in the industry.
